What the Constitution covers

Who we are and why we exist

KMUA, also known as Kibwezi Professionals, is a voluntary, non-profit, and non-political membership body. We are registered under the Societies Act. The head office is in Kibwezi, Makueni County.

Types of members and their rights

The Constitution provides for founding, ordinary, associate, student, corporate, honorary and life members. Ordinary members in good standing may vote and hold office. Other types have their own place.

How we elect leaders

We elect leaders at the Annual General Meeting in an election year. The Secretary gives at least 60 days notice. An Electoral Committee runs the vote.

How we handle money

The registration fee is currently KSh 2,000. Fees are not refunded. The Treasurer looks after the books. Money is handled with care and is subject to audit.

How we settle disputes

We try to settle disputes by talking first. If that fails, the Governance, Legal and Ethics Committee may mediate. The Executive Committee may decide. A member may appeal to the General Meeting.

How we can change the rules

Any member may propose a change in writing. A meeting adopts a change by a two-thirds vote of members present and voting. Some changes also need the Registrar of Societies.
